Swadesh wants to reflect on the meaning of public art in democratic republic. We want the experience to be participative and not spectatorial, we want to draw from our deep cultural roots and spiritual ethos. No giant commemorative statutes here. Despite all our lingistic, cultural and religious diversity there any many things that bring us together Equality,Faternity and Justice.  We have chosen an octagonal base, common to various architectural traditiond of India and world-over. It reflects the four intermediate directions. It expression the universality of the values that we stand for, our openess to people and ideas from all directions and our ability to integrate them. The constitution is the one thread which unites our multicultural Indic people. A collective promise to live by these drafted words by our chosen representatives. We choose to integrate this promise as a prominent part in our design and celebrating it as a reminder to always uphold those sacred values. We often see the public questioning the extravaganza of some of the our public art projects. The proposed structure is designed to easily support a utility as may be relevant to the context. This utility integration can be a criterion for site selection in various cities. Art is about the aesthetic experience but also be  useful.
