A small temple shrine within the Matunga Station in Mumbai was renovated for better quality of space, lighting and weather protection. Existing features were highlighted. An existing majestic tree behind the shrine was integrated in the space. The new roof of translucent 16mm multiwall polycarbonate provided diffused light and insulation . An internal 'volume' was created with GFRC screens derived from the geometry of the 'kolams' the auspicious patterns drawn at the thresholds of houses and temples of south India.
Scope of Work Design and build contract. From preliminary design studies to handover.
