South bound extension of the Yellow Line. Consortium of Frischmann Prabhu India Ltd., Mumbai & John McAslan Partners, London, were appointed as Detail Design Consultants (DDC) Architecture for between 9 underground stations & 1 elevated station.
Scope of Service Urban appraisal of station sites; Design & planning of stations; Coordination with MEP design; Civil Tenders ; Architectural Design & Detailing.
Notable features Design to respond to a fast track design & construction schedule- targeting for the 2010 Commonwealth Games; Thorough appraisal of each station site to assess opportunities & constraints; Station designed as an extension of the public realm; Optimal ‘sizing’ & structural scheme of station box. Column-less span in the public areas. Cost-effective solutions; Internal planning as per NFPI guidelines; Micro-level coordination with MEP design; Interior architectural specifications to suite fast construction & easy maintenance.
